THE SON WAS FAITHFUL
Hebrews 3:1–6 — Lesson #6
I'm Well Done — Knowing Jesus, Finishing Well
INTRODUCTION
What does it mean to be faithful to God? And what can we learn from the faithfulness of Jesus Christ?
As we begin Hebrews Chapter 3, the writer directs our attention to Jesus, comparing His faithfulness with that of Moses.
Moses was a faithful servant of God. But Jesus Christ is far greater. Moses served in God's house, while Jesus is the Son over His own house.
Let's examine this wonderful truth together.

SCRIPTURE READING — HEBREWS 3:1–6
Verse 1: "Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;"
Verse 2: "Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house."
Verse 3: "For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house."
Verse 4: "For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God."
Verse 5: "And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;"
Verse 6: "But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end."

UNDERSTANDING THE SCRIPTURE
#1. CONSIDER JESUS — VERSE 1
The word "consider" means to give careful attention to something.
We are called to fix our thoughts upon Jesus, our Apostle and High Priest.
As Apostle, Jesus was sent by the Father. As High Priest, He represents us before the Father.
What a wonderful reminder! Our Christian life is not about keeping our eyes on ourselves, but keeping our eyes on Christ.
#2. FAITHFUL IN ALL THINGS — VERSES 2–3
Moses faithfully served God through many difficult circumstances.
Yet Jesus is worthy of greater glory.
Why? Because Moses was a servant in God's house, while Jesus is the Son over the house.
The writer is not diminishing Moses. He is magnifying Jesus Christ.
#3. THE BUILDER OF ALL THINGS — VERSE 4
Every house has a builder, but God is the builder of all things.
This reminds us that God's work is greater than any individual servant.
We may have different responsibilities in His kingdom, but all the glory belongs to Him.
#4. A SERVANT AND A SON — VERSES 5–6
Moses served faithfully as a witness to what God would reveal.
But Jesus came as the Son, fulfilling God's promises.
Then comes a powerful reminder: We are His house if we hold fast our confidence and hope firmly to the end.
Our confidence is not in our own strength. It rests in the faithfulness of Jesus Christ.

PRACTICAL APPLICATION — FINISHING WELL
As we reflect on these six verses, let's ask ourselves three questions.
#1. Am I giving Jesus my full attention, or am I distracted by the concerns of this world?
#2. Am I being faithful in the responsibilities God has entrusted to me?
#3. Am I holding firmly to my confidence and hope in Jesus Christ?
Faithfulness is not simply how we begin our Christian journey. It is how we continue, trusting Christ until the end.
Jesus was faithful to the Father. And because He is faithful, we can confidently follow Him.
CLOSING THOUGHT
Moses was a faithful servant.
Jesus Christ is the faithful Son.
And we are called to remain faithful to Him.
May our lives bring glory to Jesus Christ as we seek to know Him more deeply and finish well.
He must increase, but I must decrease. — John 3:30
