I read somewhere that the lifting of hands is not just for praise and worship. It is also a wonderful method of prayer. I like the idea of praying with my hand lifted high. This is the way I prayed when I ran 5-miles every day many years ago.
The open palms lifted towards heaven are symbolic of our sending up our prayers and the open hand is an expression of giving out prayers to our Heavenly Father and our open hands represent our receiving blessings back from heaven. Our Heavenly Father loves for us to pray and He loves to bless us with answered prayers.
Back in the days when I was in the Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship, we all stood praying out loud at the same time. Have you ever been in a group where everyone is praying out loud at the same time? I found it awkward at first, but when I realized I was praying to God without any concern about how my prayer sounded to other people. I could pray with my own logic or reasoning or I could pray in the Spirit, I could care less if anyone else heard me or not.
I highly recommend praying out loud and with your hands lifted high. I also recommend that you pray in the Spirit because I have seen miracles happen as a result of praying in this manor.
Psalm 63:4 Living Bible (TLB)
4 I will bless you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer.
