Revelation 20 gives us a breathtaking summary of the final events before eternity begins — from Satan’s binding to his ultimate doom, and the eternal destinies of all mankind.

🔹 1. Satan Bound for a Thousand Years (verses 1–3)

John sees an angel descending from heaven, holding the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain.
The angel seizes Satan, binds him for a thousand years, and casts him into the abyss so that he can no longer deceive the nations.

This marks the beginning of Christ’s millennial reign — a thousand-year period of peace and righteousness on earth.
It is the long-awaited fulfillment of countless prophecies where Jesus reigns as King over all nations (Isaiah 2:2–4, Zechariah 14:9).

👑 2. The Reign of Christ and His Saints (verses 4–6)

John sees thrones and those who are given authority to judge.
These include believers who were faithful unto death, the martyrs who refused the mark of the beast, and the righteous who lived for Christ.
They reign with Him for a thousand years — a literal and glorious reign of peace.

This is called the first resurrection — and it is blessed!

After the thousand years are complete, Satan is released for a short time to deceive the nations once more.
He gathers them for battle — called Gog and Magog — against the beloved city of God.

But fire comes down from heaven and consumes them instantly.
Then the devil, the deceiver of the nations, is cast into the lake of fire — joining the beast and the false prophet — to be tormented forever and ever.

Evil is finally and forever defeated.

John then sees a great white throne, and Him who sits upon it — from whose face heaven and earth flee away.
All the dead, small and great, stand before God.
The books are opened — including the Book of Life.
Each person is judged according to their works.

Anyone whose name is not found written in the Book of Life is cast into the lake of fire — which is the second death.

This solemn scene reminds us that salvation cannot be earned — only through faith in Christ can one escape judgment and receive eternal life.
