Heaven’s Final Preparation
Revelation 15 stands as a bridge between the heavenly visions and the coming judgments of the final plagues. John sees another great and marvelous sign in heaven—seven angels with the seven last plagues, which complete the wrath of God. These represent the final acts of divine justice before Christ returns in power and glory.
The Victorious Saints
Before the plagues are poured out, John beholds those who had overcome the beast, his image, and his mark, standing beside a sea of glass mingled with fire. This symbolizes both purity and judgment. These victorious believers hold harps of God, singing the Song of Moses and the Song of the Lamb, celebrating God’s faithfulness, justice, and victory over evil.
Their song echoes through eternity:
“Great and marvelous are Your works, Lord God Almighty!
Just and true are Your ways, O King of the saints!”
This moment portrays the redeemed not as victims of persecution, but as overcomers—those who stood firm in faith even unto death. Their triumph becomes a testimony to God’s justice and holiness.
The Temple Filled with Glory
John then sees the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven opened, and the seven angels emerge clothed in pure bright linen, with golden sashes around their chests. One of the four living creatures gives each angel a golden bowl full of the wrath of God, who lives forever and ever.
The temple fills with smoke from the glory of God and His power, so that no one can enter until the seven plagues are completed. This signifies the unapproachable holiness of God as He executes righteous judgment upon a rebellious world.
Symbolism and Application
This chapter reminds believers that God’s wrath is not arbitrary—it is the final expression of His holiness against sin. At the same time, it reveals that those who remain faithful will stand victorious before His throne.
The “sea of glass” represents the calm assurance of salvation; the “fire” reflects the refining trials believers endure; and the “song” represents eternal worship born out of deliverance and triumph.
